Trichologist is the person specialising in Trichology and trained in the diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp problems such as hair loss, hair breakage, oily scalp, severe dandruff or autoimmune diseases; alopecia or psoriasis.

As they are experts in hair and scalp health, they may also be consulted on how you can keep your scalp and hair in tip top conditions.
To make the best diagnosis they will go through a full examination to detect scalp disorders called Dermogram and also a Trichogram in case needed to investigate in the foliculs.

This is made by taking a root sample. On top of conducting a physical examination of your hair and/or scalp, the specialist is going to ask you pertinent information such as your diet, lifestyle, full medical history and hair care routine. In some cases, hair analysis may be done to assess the health of the growing hair bulbs or to check for structural damage and presence of lice or fungal infection. That is why a Trichologist might request blood tests from your GP, in that way they usually work alongside the Gps and Dermatologists.
