Celiac Disease

Celiac disease is an autoimmune and chronic digestive disorder damaging the intestine. This illness is caused by a protein called gluten that can be found in cereals such as wheat, barley and rye. It is not known why some people can not digest this protein, but as with any other sickness, the genetic predisposition and some other environmental factors play a very important role. People with celiac disease might experience some of the following symptoms: diarrheal, bloating, anaemia and abdominal pain. Some also are more predisposed to have other illnesses like diabetes or cancer. The only remedy that we know is not ingesting the gluten protein. Thankfully, today there are a lot of different products available for everyone that are gluten free, so that people with this problem can have a normal and healthy life.
