Carry on with summer topics, it is important to talk about sweating and body odor because they are two pretty common when you are hot or you exercise, but they can also appear when you are nervous or anxious. This topic can be overlooked sometimes. Nevertheless, excesive sweating (hyperhidrosis) or lack of sweating (anhidrosis) may be concerning. Besides this, changes in body odor may signal a health problem. On the other hand, as we saw last week, no sweat may be indicating a heatstroke, especially if you have been exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time. That is why, you must take great care during these hot months.
The sources of sweating and body odour are your sweat glands, present on most of your body. These glands release fluids when your body temperature rises to help you cool down as they evaporate. Usually, the glands in areas where you have hair rlease a milky fluid when you are stressed, which is odourless until it mixes with bacteria on your skin. A bit of sweat and body odor is harmless. All things considered, it is advisable to see a doctor if you sweat much more or less than usual, you have night sweats for no reason or your body odour changes. We, E&S Doctors, are happy to help you anytime.
